Danielle Peters

Partner, Head of Family

I specialise  in the financial aspects of relationship breakdown acting for both married and unmarried separating couples.

I have been practising as a specialist family lawyer for over twenty five years and was admitted to the role as a solicitor in 1999.

I am a member of the national family law organisation, Resolution. Resolution members promote an approach to family law that is sensitive, constructive, cost-effective and most likely to result in an agreement. You can find out more about the Resolution Code of Practice here.

I advise and represent clients in divorce proceedings and in particular in respect of the financial arrangements to be made on separation.

My practice includes advice and representation for unmarried couples and parents, on the breakdown of civil partnerships and in relation to property claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.

I have been a specialist in complex private child law cases for many years. I advise and represent clients in court in respect of arrangements for children and child relocation cases.

When court proceedings and a firmer approach is essential, I am an unrelenting and robust court advocate. I have many years of experience representing clients ( including children) in complex and contested matters in court before District and Circuit Judges.

I sit on the Hertfordshire Family Justice Board as chair of training and head HFJB’s private family law working group.

I am a Recommended Lawyer in the Legal 500 and a Ranked Individual in Chambers & Partners UK.

Outside the office

I am an active member of my local amateur dramatics society. I love nothing better than an early morning jog around our beautiful Hertfordshire Countryside with my border collie, Jesse.

  • Danielle Peters is experienced, knowledgeable and very hardworking. She takes a practical and proportionate approach to her cases and they are always prepared impeccably.

  • Danielle and the team at Crane and Staples helped conclude my divorce professionally and with an outcome that I am satisfied with. I found them via a personal recommendation and would highly recommend should you require their services. I felt that Danielle’s advice was clear, justified and well documented - but also focused on the outcome I was looking to achieve - which was the best for my children. Whilst I hope I never require this service again, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again if needed.

  • Danielle, Thanks for all your advice and good nature during this - I have really appreciated your support.

  • Danielle Peters is a formidable lawyer with a quiet determination. She focuses on resolving complex matrimonial disputes with the least acrimony and always looks for solutions and avoiding unnecessary conflict. A real star.
