I read Law at Nottingham Law School and graduated in 2012 with First Class Honours. I was elected President of the Student Law Society for the duration of my final year.
After graduating I undertook the Accelerated Corporate Legal Practice Course in early 2013, at the University of Law, Moorgate. I graduated in June with Commendation. Before commencing my Training Contract in December 2013, I worked as a paralegal both for Devonshire Solicitors and Hogan Lovells where I gained experience in commercial Litigation and Financial Acquisitions.
I began my training in the family department at Crane & Staples in mid-2015 and qualified as a Family Solicitor in December 2015. Prior to this I spent 6 months training in each of the following three departments: Employment Law & Dispute Resolution, Commercial Property, and Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning.
My legal practice principally involves acting for parents and children in Children Law matters and Care Proceedings. There are many reasons why a parent might find themselves either being taken to court, or having to initiate court proceedings themselves in order achieve the outcome desired for their children when attempts to find a functioning agreement have failed. I have experience in the representation of parents who suffer with mental health problems and learning difficulties, or where there are issues or allegations around domestic abuse or violence against children. I conduct the majority of the advocacy at court hearings to ensure consistency of representation for my clients and I spend roughly 65% of my conducting court hearings. Having said that I am also happy to recommend counsel in multifaceted matters and I have excellent relationships with some of the best family barristers in London and the South East.
My day to day work involves the following types of Children Law matters: Care Proceedings (acting for either parents or children), Adoption Proceedings (including contested adoption and post adoption contact), Special Guardianship Orders, and Private Children Law matters (including Child Arrangements Orders, Specific Issue Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders). I have previously assisted in divorce proceedings and complex financial disputes.
If you are a parent or carer who is facing the prospect of the Local Authority going to court to remove your children, or a child for whom you share Parental Responsibility, you should be entitled to legal aid funding no matter who you are. I am more than happy to discuss a case over the phone first to see if you are eligible.
Outside the office
I love to spend my evenings playing and watching sports. I currently compete in both the Hertford and Stevenage Men’s Doubles Badminton League, and play Squash weekly with friends. I have a great passion for motor sport, and I always enjoy a trip to Goodwood Festival of Speed.
