Welwyn Garden City says yes to the BID!

Businesses in Welwyn Garden City voted a resounding yes to the introduction of a BID for the town centre.

The initiative is designed to improve life and business in the City and could include initiatives such as:

  • Organising regular events in the town centre during the day and the evening to increase footfall and a “buzz” in the town centre
  • Improving signage throughout the town centre
  • The introduction of town centre “Ambassadors” who could welcome and act as an information point for visitors and provide support for businesses in tackling and communicating the issues that affect them
  • Exploring the possibility of reducing business costs by joint purchasing initiatives

Crane & Staples are supporting the Welwyn Garden City BID as we are committed to supporting and investing in our local community and we believe that improvements to the town centre will benefit both residents and business.

The Business Improvement District, known as BID, is an initiative which has been successfully created in many towns across England.  Designed to create co-working between Town Councils and local businesses the Government initiative has also been brought to the public by top retailer Mary Portas.  It has been introduced in local towns such as Watford, Hitchin - which renewed its BID recently, Letchworth and Luton.
