Our bake off raises over £700 for Citizen’s Advice Bureau!

Crane & Staples joined the national Great Legal Bake off to raise £712 for the Welwyn Hatfield Citizens Advice Bureau.

Mayor Lynne Sparks and Chairman of the Citizens Advice Bureau Charles Trinder were appointed official judges across 4 categories:  Best Legal Themed Cake, won by Tia Hussein,  Best Homemade Cake, won by Sharon Montgomery,  Best Effort won by Danielle Peters and Best Overall Cake - a stunning Devil's Advocate cake by Tom Axon.

Staff fully entered into the bake-off spirit with a fantastic array of cakes, cupcakes and fudge and contributions from staff, clients and  professional contacts raised a staggering £306 for the CAB. Crane & Staples Partners matched this, taking the total to an impressive £612.  Tia's Family Law Handbook cake, complete with figures of the Family Department caught the attention of Jordan's who publish the actual handbook. Twitter was alight and Jordans donated another £100!

Mayor Lynne Sparkes said: “This was a lovely event to support and judge. The number and quality of cakes was really impressive and the legal themed cakes were really innovative.  Everyone got behind the initiative and clearly enjoyed themselves. Supporting the Citizens Advice Bureau made it a win win for everyone!”

Charles Trinder said:  “The CAB’s focus is local people helping other local people.  To have a local firm such as Crane & Staples recognise and support that is fantastic. We were delighted to receive their support – and staff fought over who would come and judge. As Chairman I won!”

Solicitor Nicola Shepherd  - who instigated and managed the whole event said: “It seemed a great initiative to get involved with and I’d like to thank everyone for getting behind it, and particularly to both the Mayor and Mr Trinder for supporting us.  The whole firm is delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount of money for Citizens Advice Bureau who provide an invaluable service to people in Welwyn Garden City.”
