Double Award Success at the Hertfordshire Law Society Dinner
The annual Hertfordshire Law Society Dinner and Legal Excellence Awards took place on Friday evening in the beautiful Old Palace at Hatfield House.
Set against a warm summer evening, the event brought together members of the legal community from across Hertfordshire to celebrate the profession and recognise achievements at every stage, from students and junior lawyers through to senior practitioners.
Our own Michael Scutt, serving as this year’s Hertfordshire Law Society President, delivered an excellent speech reflecting on the importance of community, collaboration and the continued strength of the legal profession across the county. We extend our congratulations to Michael and the HLS Committee for hosting such a well-organised and enjoyable event, and for their ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and forward-thinking society, while maintaining its rich history and traditions.

The evening also featured distinguished guests, including Lord Salisbury and Law Society President Mark Evans. Lord Salisbury shared a fascinating overview of the history of Hatfield House, while Mark Evans spoke about the evolving legal landscape and how solicitors can work together to make a positive difference.
The event also included a raffle in support of LawCare, a charity that promotes and supports mental wellbeing across the legal sector, reflecting the profession’s growing focus on wellbeing and support.
Celebrating Success at Crane & Staples
It was a particularly memorable evening for Crane & Staples, with the firm receiving two prestigious awards.
Junior Lawyer of the Year: Megan Latschrauner
Megan Latschrauner was named Junior Lawyer of the Year in recognition of her outstanding work in public family law.
Megan’s achievements include leading a pro bono clinic at a local women’s refuge, as well as her skilled handling of complex care proceedings. The judges also highlighted the excellent testimonials provided by clients and professional colleagues alike. We are grateful to everyone who supported Megan’s nomination.
This award holds special significance for the firm, marking the fourth time a member of our team has received this honour (following previous winners Georgina Christou, Katie Lane and Mischa McKevitt). It reflects our ongoing commitment to developing and supporting junior talent, which remains central to our values.

Solicitor of the Year: Natasha Khakhar
Senior Associate Natasha Khakhar was awarded Solicitor of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional work in private family law.
Natasha plays a key role within the firm, consistently achieving excellent outcomes for clients. She is recognised for her strong strategic approach and dedication, as well as the compassionate support she provides throughout what can often be challenging circumstances. Client feedback frequently describes her as not only a highly skilled solicitor, but also a trusted source of reassurance and strength.

While Michael Scutt had no involvement in the judging process, it made the evening all the more special to celebrate these successes during his presidency.
It was a truly memorable occasion for the Crane & Staples team, and a wonderful celebration of the strength, talent and commitment within the Hertfordshire legal community.
